Samantha has a MIC-Key, but next week is changing to a mini-one, which is just a smaller, more flat version of the mic-key. she had the long tube for about 8 weeks before getting her button, but the dr has told us that her tube needs changed about ever 4 months because the balloon can get week, but the change is done in the dr office and takes like 5 minutes

I just had my long tube replaced a few days ago. I agree that it's a pain in the butt for the 6-8 weeks they keep it in, but it SHOULD be replaced with a mic-key or something similar after that time. If your doctor doesn't seem to think that people use the buttons anymore, I would absolutely insist upon it, and if he still says no, I would suggest finding a new doctor.

Definitely don't cut it though! That's absolutely not a viable option. Stick it out, you can do it!
