Hi Diane,

I'm sorry that you are having to deal with this whole thing.

Please exuse my ignorance...I don't know anything about this aspergilloma....but why couldn't they just do a bronchoscopy and take the little sucker out of there?

Hi Becki,
I dont think it is accessible by bronchosopy. I know from reading online about fungus balls that they usually surgically remove them if they are a problem. The surgery is supposed to carry a lot of risk. My Dr. told me right away they would not do any surgery to remove it because i am a bleeder
( hemoptysis), plus i have cepacia. I dont think they want to risk the cepacia geting into the blood stream ( i thank them for that) From what i know it is a ball of fungus that formed in a cavity in my lung. It is supposed to be the size of maybe a golf ball. Every time i think of that i want to scream !

Hi Diane,

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this and not finding others right now who have dealt with the same thing! I felt in a similar place once I started looking for others with my same mycobacterium. I felt like the only one out there with it. Fortunately though, slowly but surely, people started coming out of the woodwork here at this site with the same type or similar mycobacteriums. I think the more you bring it up on here, hopefully more people will see this and start to respond so you don't feel so alone.

I'll be thinking of you!
