WOW this is really interesting. Times like this I wish I was with my former neurologist. He would actually know and be willing to consider the connection.

My current doctor is convenient, but I wouldnt trust him with any real issues and he poo poos any problems I have had that I thought were connected with my CF.

Sounds like you have a good doctor!

BTW I have been on Phenobarbital since I was put on meds 30 years ago!

Yes Melissa she seems like a good Dr. I have only seen her once and I trust wat se says. Se is also the Director of the Neurology Dept where I go.

Does the Phenobarbital make you sleepy? How far apart do you take it and at what times? I take my Keppra at 10pm and 9am. The 9am dose just icks my butt and makes me sleepy. I was thinking that if I take it earlier in the morning, maybe set my alarm and take it before I usually wake up, it would be better. The pm dose is right before I go to sleep so it doesn't bug me.

Do you have any suggestions?

Honestly I have been taking my meds for so long that I dont know/remember what it feels like NOT to have them in my system so I really dont know if it makes me sleepy or not. I would imagine it does, but cant compare THAT sleepy to my CF sleepy etc.

I take 60 mg in the morning when I wake up and 90 mg at bedtime. I was never given an exact time to take my meds. Just PM & AM. I would be careful about switching the times because I am sure the dosage varies in the therapeutic levels based on when you take it.

Run it past your doctor. I dont really have a lot of info for you on that SORRY!

HUGS.....

The Dr didn't give me an exact time to take mine either. She just said am and pm. I will check the patient pamphlet that came with it to see if it says anything. I am just worried because this dose seems to reek havoc on me and I am suppose to up te dose on Mon. So I have to get this settled before then. I am hoping that by switching the time it will help me function better until my body gets used to this med.
I also think that Mon's dose will be the amount I need to stop the seizures because it seems to have calmed them down already. So thats pretty promising. So I am keeping my fingers crossed!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">
