firing CFF Representatives?

Well I wish I could say our walk was a raving success but it wasnt. I will wait to see what the totals are but I am expecting much less than last year. We are a small site so last year we raised $58,000.

History: a couple started our walk 10 years ago and never has there been a rep from CF foundation until last year. Last year we got a new head guy and a charity organizer. I think if she had a different boss the organizer woudl be good but the boss is the pits. Lots broken promises, lazy, little empathy or concern for the cause, deceptive, etc etc etc Last year the organizer stepped on the toes of those who were organizng the silent auction (we always have this at end of our walk) everyone loves auction and it raises thousands of extra dollars. They said how it wasnt CFF approved event and we couldnt have it etc. Then she took opposite approach and wanted to control it to make it 'better'. They ended up saying that they werent doing it next year because of all the flack they were getting and that CFF wanted to take over. They resigned.

Next the organizer and her boss really rubbed the walk committee the wrong way with multiple offenses (including a really rude remark about a cure being'bad' for business). Anyway the organizers had already basically said they were plannign to resign but hadnt done it officially. We had the walk and then they resigned. THe old walk chair and I were talking and I told her the organizers had offered me to be chair and we figured out the smarmy ^*()**(( did this before she even resigned which is BS.

Now fast forward to this year where the walk is looking to be totally crummy. MUCH less peopel and involvement and NO auction. So, I ask the organizer why no auction etc and she tells me this pitty who is me story of how the whole walk committt resigned and did so at the last minute this year in jan/feb and shedoesnt have the time to do it all for everyone. WTF? Does she not remember her boss asked me to do it on the premise that they had all resigned almost immediately follwoing the walk? She completely lied to me. Not only that but the reason the 2nd in command woudlnt host the walk is because they didnt want to work with the 2 of them?

I am so irritated with this. I planned to get more involved next eyar especially since my daughter will be a bit older but not with the way things curretnly are. Now there are 4 main families and 3 of them are talking about leaving and doing their own fundraiser next year on top of which I might be loosing my corporate sponsorsip throguh my work. I am very disapointed. I am plannign to go above their heads - others have already done this last year. What woudl you all do. I mean there is roomin an organization where you have slackers but there is no room for that in this type of job. The whole time the boss was sitting on his lazy butt in the back corner of the barn where the silent auction USED to be not out networkign or talking to families. There was no microphone this year so noone could hear what the organizer was tryign to say. It was the pits. I am very disapointed.

I had many unfulfilled promises to me last year and now I am thinking that I am definately not the only one thus alot lower participation this year.

I would contact someone at the corporate level about it. The CFF should be there for the families and if the local chapter is not and is in fact being rude, etc., someone at the corporate office should definitely know.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience!

Some of my relatives volunteered at a walk in their city several years ago and were so turned off by the Exec Director's rudeness and people involved that they vowed never to return. Fortunately there's another chapter office in their state and they've gotten involved with that one instead.
