Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

As far at the beneftis of brobiotics goes, can you explain to me what those are? I am pancriatis sufficent, I have some problems with my stomach from time to time though, and there are foods that I cannot eat.

Thanks.

probiotics help restore normal gut flora. Basically they replenish the good bacteria in the gut that gets destroyed by frequent use of antibiotics. I think it is also supposed to lower intestinal inflammation but I am not sure.

This is interesting to see. We started Emily on a multi-strain probiotic about 2mo ago and she is awfully gassy too (however, it's not like she wasn't gassy before, lol.)

As far as benefits are concerned: it really won't do a thing for pancreatic insufficiency, but a well-proven benefit is in helping to restore the balance of 'good' bacteria in your gi tract, which can be a real issue with those w/ cf, given how many abx we/our children are often on, which can really affect that. This can help reduce yeast infections, improve digestion overall, and benefits to immune function is being looked into as well, I think.

eta> Yes, it's being looked into for inflammation too- studied in diseases like ibs and Crohns... many with those conditions gain relief.

Probiotics do restore the good bacteria after a round of AB's, but they also help boost your immune system. I stopped taking them for about six months once and got virus after virus after virus. I couldn't work it out as normally my immune system is very strong, then i remembered i'd stopped taking my probiotic. I started taking them again and have not had one virus since!

The flatulence should pass, or perhaps you need to change to a different formula? Meanwhile, have loads of fun giving paint peeling dutch ovens to your boyfriend. Guys really love that stuff!! Trust me
