Floods in Texas

The floods scared me to death this morning. I woke up and heard about them and knew my parents were driving from my brothers house in the Dallas/Ft Worth area back to there home in Austin last night.

Tried to get ahold of them this morning and no answer. Finally heard from them a little bit ago and they had decided to stay one more day at my brothers. THANK GOODNESS!

Hope everyone is safe!!!!!

Long time lurker...

I'm from Keller, TX which is down the road in between both of the tornados that occurred in Haltom City and Trophy Club. Anyway, the rain has been pretty crazy this year and I've seen areas flood that I've never seen covered in water before. As if we didn't have a humidity problem before. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Gotta feel for the people down in Haltom, second tornado is the last 6 months or so.

i live about 20 minutes from where all the flooding was, and is, i drove up there earlier today and the interstate was literally flooded over, couldn't get into Gainsville because of it. We didn't flood here but its definately soggy. We have gotten so much rain, typically by the middle of june we celebrate for a small cloud, this year we are like 10 - 12 inches above the average rainfall for the area. One of my friends lives next to a creek not far from here and he was filling sandbags all night. luckily it turned out not to be nececary though. this time last year they were closing lakes because they were so dry, now they are either at or above average. we got about 3 inches last night. the music minister at my church lives in the middle of all of this and couldn't make it to church this morning because although his house wasn't flooded, all around it was, he lives on a hill that now looks like an island. I don't think anyone else lives in Gainsville where it flooded so bad so i think we're all ok

Even though I am in CA with our oldest daughter, waiting for transplant, we live in Argyle. Spoke with my husband this AM and he said my weather radio kept going off waking him up last night. He was getting tired of shutting it off when the last alert went off announcing a tornado moving from Trophy Club towards Argyle. He grabbed the dogs and spent the next hour or so in the closet. Thank goodness Rachel is here in CA with my parents. My husband said he finally went back to bed a little bit after the warning expired. And he hates my weather radio. It does get annoying when there's severe weather but how else are you going to know in the middle of the night when there's a tornado warning? He said everything looked pretty good in Argyle this morning. Seems our neighbors didn't have the threat of rising waters this time around, they have a creek next to their property. As many have mentioned already, they were not so lucky in Haltom City or Gainsville. The rain is good, the rivers are up, the stock ponds are full, the drought is supposedly officially over, it can slow down now.
