Ok, I just confirmed (via FluMist package insert) that it is contraindicated (ie DO NOT USE) for patients with CF.

I'd looked into this when there was a shortage a few years ago and it was also recommended that DS's caregivers NOT get it (flumist) as well because it's a live virus. I never asked his doctor about it, but plan to. DH and I ended up getting our shots at the Senior Citizen center because the health department was having a clinic for seniors and my neighbor asked about us and they told us to come on by. It was impossible to get a vaccine for us at the clinic that year.

Do NOT get the flu mist! Two years ago, when I took all my kiddos in to get their flu shots, that was the year where we had more shortages going on, they gave my kids that were older (the 11 through 15 year olds) the mist, the younger ones, including Zoe got the shot......2 days after, the kids that took the mist were sick. I mean SICK. High fevers, sore throats, mucus, coughs, etc... the other kids never had any symptoms. I will never allow my children or anyone in my immediate family to get the mist again. Ugghhh!<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Take care, hope all this info helps!!!
