Flying with iv antibiotics

I have a pic line and I am flying this weekend for a get away and taking my antibiotics with me. Tobra and Tcacef(spell check). I am going to put it in a cooler in my luggage with ice packs. Then the hotel will have a refrig. Am I overlooking anything. I feel like it's not even worth all this trouble to go. It was a Christmas gift from my mom in love to have a girls weekend. I am tired and exhausted from just preparing to go. Will I really enjoy myself being on the leash?

Personally, I never check luggage that I wouldn't mind losing. I'd carry on all your meds, including your IV meds.

As for if you should go or not go...that's a great question. I know when I'm on IVs (like I am now) I'm very tired. The meds seem to wipe me out and even though this routine (IV meds) is becoming more and more frequent, I prefer to lie low while doing IVs so I can be sure I'm getting the rest I need to be the best mom/spouse I can be when I am healthy.

I also do NOT EVER check any of my meds. I just flew last week and put every med carry-on. I packed all the liquid meds in plastic bags like they tell you too and then at security I took it all out before it even went through the xray machines. You wont necessarily have a problem if you check your meds, but if they lose your luggage, your screwed, basically. And just so you know, the airlines/airports tell you not to check any meds in your luggage. Check out www.tsa.gov for more information.

As for whether or not to travel, that is up to you. I dont think I would, but I have never been in that situation. If I were really looking forward to it and happened to have PICC, I probably would...but if it could be changed I would.
