An epic is a journey through life to find yourself or your place in life. You find many battles be it physical or mental, one of the most famous epics is the Odyssey by Homer, (O Brother Where Art Though was based on this) If that is an epic than shouldn't Lord of the Rings be also? ( I know, I know just hang with me for a minute here. ) I was watching one of the LOTR the other day and we just started investigating the background of Epics in english class. It occured to me that they are one and the same. Around that time Gandalf said something to Frodo that struck me to the core... something that each and every one of us as CFers has experienced at one point in time. "I wish this had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened." -Frodo"So do all who live to see such times... but that is not for them to decide. All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you." - Gandalf. Each of us has said that to ourselves. Why me, I wish this had never happened to me, etc. We might not be living the epic on screen or through a story or play, but aren't we living through the same thing? A battle of our own? Personally I thought this was a very moving quote and I thought I'd share my insights with y'all.
