Forced Air w/ Hepa filtered ventilation system

We had been looking at purchasing a used home, but decided to check out building a new one and we might be able to afford it. The company we may use does forced air with a Venmar Mechanical ventilation system for a 5* Energy Rating. Has anyone heard of this and is it any good? I wanted to do infloor heating, but I don't think we'll be able to afford it.

Also, although I am going to have laminate flooring in the bedrooms, I am considering carpet for the living room (my husband really wants it). For allergy sufferers, do you find that no carpeting in the bedroom is enough or do I need no carpet in the whole house?

I don't know about the air system, sorry! But when we redid the floors in our house, we did all hardwoods/vinyl and area rugs. Maybe you could compromise on a nice, cushy area rug? I think it also depends on what you are allergic to- if it's dust mites and mold, (IMHO) I'd definitely go for the laminate/area rug. We have (what is now called) an Aprilaire air flitration system, which is GREAT for dust, etc.. It came with the house, but if we ever move, I'm getting another one <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0"> . Good luck with your decision!

I know the midrange aircleaner says it produces no ozone, but I am not familiar with these higher end models and what features they have. Mine is just a simple accordian style filter, with no electronics.
