Foul smell in sinuses? Sinus surgery 5/23

I've had 4 sinus surgeries over the past, and recognize the symptoms you are referring to. My sinus surgeries were quite extensive, involving several procedures each time. I also have eroded bone in my left upper sinus, no bone left at all. I have learned since my last surgery 2 years ago, that the NeilMed Sinus rinse system really helps, not right after your surgery, but using the rinse twice a day is useful. I haven't had a surgery since.

Hey Shea! I had my first sinus surgery on 5/29. Although I am a few days behind you with healing, my sense of smell has been totally skewed. Somethings just don't smell like they used to. I hope it will be fixed once I am totally healed. How is your nose doing now? Mine still hurts, but I had my septum fixed at the same time.
What color is your snot? My doc said that clear with yellow streaks is normal and is not an infection. Sometimes a little brown from dried blood is common too. The color should be an indication if it is an infection. If it is green, call the doc (the ENT) right away.

lol we all had sinus surgery in May ^^

I have been doing the NeilMed 2x a day...once on lunch break and once before bed. It really helps, and it seems like the clots come out after I do it (although not during)

That sounds awesome about having your sinuses cleaned out. But I like gross nasty things. I wonder where I could go? I actually live 2 1/2 hours away from my CF doc, so I can't really pop down there anytime.

I can smell great now, and my sense of taste is so much better. The thing I have noticed, however, is I am just pooped a lot. I came home friday and slept the whole evening. I'm just trying to keep up on rest when I am off work and it seems to be working. Apparently fatigue isn't uncommon at all for sinus surgery...CF or not.

Aspen: the snot is definitely yellowish, so I will call them in the morning. Not too much pain here. I also had the severely-eroded bones, but to my surprise I didn't have a lot of pain after surgery, even after they opened things up more. Just headaches here and there that excedrin 'tension headache' takes care of. I hope you feel better!

Thanks guys.
