... Does anyone know if that ruins them or not??? I don't want to waste my time nebulizing something that is not any good anyway.....

I edited the rest because I didn't want it to sound like I RARELY have a good day because that isn't true at all, at least I don't think... anyway,

Lindsey.. YOU are a lifesafer about the passport, I did research it after you told me that and it looks like it is just what you said....

It is a Royal Carribean cruise... Western Cruise.. SO Mexico, Jamacia, Caymen Island.... etc... I think you don't have to have the passport..

More and more ppl I am talking to had to wait, even with expedited services four to six weeks.... Yikes

Thanks for the help..

Hey Jennifer,

I don't know about the frozen meds, but I wanted to let you know about the passport thing.

When we went on our Cruise at the beginning of January we were told that the passport requirement was changed to the beginning of 2008. So you can take a breather a bit if your cruise is just going to be in the Bahamas and Mexico. We went to the Bahamas with NO passport after the first of the year with no problems. If you do not have your passport just make sure you have a VALID photo ID and your birth certificate with you when you go to board - it should not be a problem if you have those two things.

Take Care and I hope you have a good time on your Cruise and that you are able to get everything else worked out, that your mom is okay and that you get an answer to your med question.

Take Care,
Lindsey

Did you order it from a pharmacy, or a cf services pharmacy, that delivered? If that was the case, I'd call them and let them know that it arrived frozen, if that was the case- they should be able to tell you. I had an overnight delivery of Pulmozyme that took 2 days one time, and when I called and told them, they said to just refuse it and they were sending me out a new one. If it just got too far back in the refrigerator, or something like that, they would still be the best people to ask, I think .

Yes, frozen Pulmozyme is ruined, as is hot Pulmozyme. Anything that is an enzyme (typically these have names ending in -yme...hehehe why me?) has a specific optimal temperature range in order to be effective. I won't bore you with all the chemistry of it. Pulmozyme needs to be kept between 2 and 8 degrees C, which is approximately 34 to 48 degrees F.

I've only ordered Pulmozyme through the mail once, and I refuse to do it again because there's no guarantee that it will be properly refrigerated. I order mine from the hospital pharmacy since they know what's up (usually).

Bummer that so much is going on. Seems like you rarely have a good day. I hope that changes soon and you get your passport in time.

Call your pharmacy -- it has to be kept at 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit -- so my guess would be no, it is no longer useful. It is a fairly sensitive product. I have been told it can stay at room temp (70's) for 24 hours and if returned to the refrigerator it was OK, but I don't think freezing is going to be ok.

Good luck! Depending on the pharmacy (I'm assuming you received a mail order?) you may or may not have a fight on your hands to get it filled again at no cost to you or your ins company.

send the pulmozyme back! you spend too much money on it to risk it.

make the pharmacy eat the cost.

yes frozen pulmozyme is ruin. Dont use it. Call the pharmacy that you got it from, tell them it was frozen on arrival and you do not feel comfortable using it. They should send you a new batch. I had pulmozyme come one time and it was no longer cold. We called and they sent use a new batch. I believe we sent the bad pulmozyme back, but I am not 100% sure or if we just threw it away.
