Frustrated with my vest.

I've had a half chest version for years now and it's been okay. It probably doesn't fit perfectly right though so I've been starting to ask about getting a perfect fitting one.

When I went to Denver for a doctor visit, their pulmonologists picked out a child's large Hill rom vest for me and said this should fit me well. I put it on and it seemed snug, but we didn't plug it in to make sure. I now have this vest at home and it seems way too small. The armpit area is sooooo tight it drives me nuts. This is a full size and it inflates in the back as well as the front. My current one is a half chest and only inflates in the front so I can lean back and relax.

I'm not liking this new one that is suppose to fit me better! It sucks. Those of you who have a vest that you know fits right, does it suffocate you all around and do the armpit areas completely squish you? I'm confused once again on how this thing is suppose to fit. Just wondering if you guys could shed some light on this.

I will call HillRom on Monday to see if one of their people can meet with me to make sure things are correct.

thanks for your input.

I'm assuming that you have let the shoulder straps out all the way, right? (just checking )...I have an adult small, and it only does me that way if I move around too much and it rides up. I lean back on mine (and occasionally remember to lean forward when it is filling between speeds- aheh). I hold down the bottom of it when it is filling, and that seems to help the armpit thing.

If it isn't comfortable, they should have no problem sending you out the next size up- your vest shouldn't hurt .

Oh, btw, I'm 5'1" and around 123 lbs, if that helps.

Oh! And the all around "squish" thing does take some getting used to- I gradually turned the pressure up as I got used to it.

I would ask HillRom to send someone out to fit you. That's what Respirtech does when they make custom fit vests.

Otherwise, I have no idea how one is supposed to know the fit, like you said. I had a poorly fitting vest for like 5 years and I didn't even know it
