Fundraising idea for kids

We are doing the great strides walk again this year. Maggie's nursery school teachers want to involve the class somehow. My suggestion(of course I borrowed this idea from someone else) was to have the kids do a change collection to raise $ for CF. To make it fun, I am going to provide each child with a M&M candy tube, if you have seen the mini M&M's they come in a tube, I'm pretty sue quarters and coins could fit in it. The child gets to eat the mini M&M's then collect $ for CFF and bring it into class. The teachers said they could make labels for the little tubes of M&M's. I'll give them our fundraising letters if the parents want more info or to come to the walk. Just thought it was a fun and fairly easy thing for little ones to do, 4 year olds. I might think about doing it for my 8 year olds class too if he wants to get involved as well.

I love this idea!! My sister and I have been talking about doing this at my nephews pre-school. I've contacted M & M's to see if they would donate the Mini's tubes but they won't. Kids love to help and what a fun way to do it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I was going to try to go a whole-sale club and get a large box of those mini's tubes. I think BJ's support the CFF so if there is one close by and they stock the mini M&M's it may be worhtwhile to see if they'ld donate some for the fundraiser.

Neat idea Rebecca! They will give it their all I'm sure of it. It is so nice to get the kids involved...they really feel a part of something.

My daughter wants to sell her books (first grade style about adventures of Haimus the Squirrel;-) at a little amateur author book fair. Maybe we will do some e-book version as well. This was all her idea and I am trying to figure out how to do it by April 22! aghh!

Best wishes on yours....what is everyone else doing for CF awareness in May aside from Great Strides?

I saw that idea of the M&Ms on the CFF website- another preschool had also done that. This year my niece printed coloring pics off the Internet. We printed out about 40 or so and made copies. Then we stapled them in books. She made a cover that "Color for a Cure" She is going to sell them to the kindergarten kids in her class. It is really cute. We raised $25,000 last year so we have our work cut out for us to beat that. But we're going to try..

Rebecca,

We are in the process of doing this same fundraiser at my kids school. The M&M's are sitting in my living room as we speak. 600 tubes in all. I am not sure where you live, but if you have a BJ's Brewery nearby they will match up to $2,000 what the school collects, plus donate $1,000 to your school for participating, and give a pizza party to the class that collects the most. Contact your local CFF chapter for more info. Our CFF chapter was able to get someone to donate all of the M&M's, they fit quarters perfectly. You can PM me if you need any additional info. Good Luck.
