gallstones and bile duct stone....

Jaz, Sounds like gallbladder. I don't mean to rain on your parade. My experience was similar in that I had an attack in my teen years and then not again until my 20's. Over time it became more consistant. The good news is that you don't have to be having an attack to be able to be diagnosed with gallstones so stop wishing for pain! Being that you have CF you are predisposed to having gallbladder problems. Have your CF doc. order an ultrasound or send you to a gastroentrochronologist who will order an ultrasound if you would rather. Just get to the bottom of it. In answer to your question about if it isn't bad enough for surgery. Generally, it's usually worse than what they can see on the ultrasound from what my surgeon said and I've heard from others. Also, once your gallbldder starts making stones it continues to make stones. This fact was important to me because I thought if I could pass them or break them up then maybe somehow I could do that and be cured. Nope. Finally, passing them is not a good idea like it can be done with kidney stones because the gallbladder passes them to the to the bile ducts which then places them in the pancreas to my understanding which causes pancreatitis. Just get it checked out and see what your working with. For some reason, chiropractors don't think gallbladder removal is a good idea. I agree with them on a lot of things but not this.

I had my gall bladder and stones removed May 2006. It hit me out of the blue- very hard. Had first attack, had surgery a few days later. My other digestive organs took a beating during gall bladder flare up. I had 4 gall stones in varied sizes. I agree with the pillow thing when coughing... that was my lifesaver after surgery. My stomach was sore for weeks after surgery and incisions didn't heal very well (belly button one especially). I was off the serious pain meds withn a few days of having the surgery, stayed on OTC pain meds of about a week off and on. Fairly easy surgery... compared to others that I have had (C-section, 1st sinus surgery). Had tons of digestion problems after surgery... got better with time (lost a bunch of weight). I am finally back on regular foods... regular diet.
