Gas?

I know, it sounds weird. I know what gas is. Trust me. Ahahahaha.

I've had this really awful pain since last night. It feels basically the same as when I've held number two or gas for an entire day (if I'm, for instance, at school, or work). But I've been farting and using the bathroom!!! So I don't know why it feels like it's building up. And it's really quite painful. I keep getting up to go to the bathroom, sure that it will feel better when I'm done, and I do produce, so to speak, but the pain is still there when I leave the potty.

Any ideas??

I read this article today

</a>Not that it pertains to CF and digestion but how she describes the colon.

Then I did further reading on the subject that we are walking around with eight pounds of fecal matter etc.... and if it is true for us CFer's it makes sense to have some pain in our intestinal tract. I have had pain like what you have described when I was on a feeding tube in the hospital after my transplant. The pain was on my side of my abdomen and would not go away for days.

Once in a while I will get a side pain and just daily massages to my abdomen helps to prevents this. I start at my right side while looking down and massage toward the large intestine which is the colon on the left side. This might help if you can tolerate to massage gently. I make a habit of squeezing my stomach every day while I am taking care of business. I am kneading the skin and I also massage like I described above. Sometimes just holding my finger in and around my belly button area does wonders. I learned this from a massage therapist and this is pretty powerful. You can be doing this standing somewhere and suddenly get the urge to go to the bathroom. I start at twelve o clock and work around. Twelve o'clock while looking down is that the top of your navel.

I hold each position for a minute without pressing too hard.

it could definitely be an intestinal blockage. i still have bowl movements when i have a blockage..... but the pain is there.

go to your doc and get a CT scan or have him/her feel around to see if he/she can feel the blockage (usually my doc can feel mine).
