I just got my bottles of gentimician nasal wash and the only thing the instructions say is 1 oz per side of my nose.  <div><br></div><div>It is mixed in large bottles of saline that have to stay in the fridge.  Do I just squirt the medicine up my nose straight or do I mix it with my Neilmed solution that I normally use??</div><div><br></div><div>Sorry... I have never done this before and don't want to mess things up.</div>

When I was doing Gent rinses, I didn't dilute it with my normal saline. I used it full strength and only instilled as much as I could comfortably hold in with my head tilted down and forward. I left it sit in my sinuses for a few minutes. I did all this after a normal saline rinse.

Thank you!!!

I was able to get a hold of my ENT office and they told me just what you said.

Did you have any auditory issues with the drug?? I am suppose to watch for hearing loss, ringing in the ears and dizziness. Day 1... so far so good!!

I found one of the best ways to administer the gent. sinus wash was to get a bulb syringe from babys r us and use one squirt for each side of my nose.

I used the rinses for 6 months twice a day before I started having any issues with ringing in my ears. I still have to use them every now and then, but not for 6 months anymore, my hearing is slightly depleted but nothing crazy.

I tried using gentimican in rinses and it did not really help. Now I am thinking I did not do it correctly. The phamacist gave me small vials of iv med and I was instructed to put half a bottle in my 8 oz saline wash. Can you tell me the the concentration of gentimican to saline? Thanks

Kristan, I don't know the concentration. My doctor had a pharmacy mix it for me. I got it in large bottles. I add 2 oz in m neil med bottle. It took them some work to find a pharmacy that could mix it.
