getting a port in 9 hours

Geez...it sounds like you need that port soon though if they are having so many problems getting PICC's in. Did he say why the right subclavian is dangerous? I would definitely see the vascular specialist, like I said, it sounds like you are a tough PICC placement and your options for placement are going to get smaller and smaller as more scar tissue builds up from repeat PICC's. Once a port is in, it is in and they usually last for awhile unless they get infected or a blockage that can't be resolved through clot busters.
I wish you luck and hope you get your port soon..most importantly, I hope you feel better soon!
