getting a port.

My port is accessed right now, I will try to remember to take a pic tonight for you to see how it will look when in use!

I got my port in September, and you can do a search on some of my posts during that time...I was freaking out! With having CF we women are already a little self-conciencce (coughing, weight, etc.), the last thing we want is a big old port sticking out of our chest! I got the regular sized port in my upper right chest, about 2.5 inches below my shoulder. I won't lie, it is noticeable. I am slightly under-weight, but I would have to put on a very large amount to hide it. I don't mind it though. Because of where it is on my chest, ALL of my shirts hide it, even tank tops (not spaghetti straps though). With a cute halter top, you would never know! I even found a really cute two-peice swim suit for this summer that hides it completely.

I love my port. If I would have know how much easier iv's are with it, I would have gotten it years ago, and if (or when) this one goes, I will get another. Because mine sticks out a little, it has never taken more than one poke!

I know this is long, but I wanted to stress to you just how great it has been, and how easy it is to hide.

I will take a few pics tonight of it accessed, and then a few when it is not.

Alright, you actually got me to post these pictures of myself to show you, even accessed, it is no big deal....nothing like a picc line to hide! I will take a few the next time it is unaccessed...I hope this helps.
