I don't have any experience with one but I wanted to say that I will be keeping you in prayer that all goes well with the placement and recovery.

I've also got a port in my chest - mine's a double lumen which has it's pros and cons, but overall I'm glad it's a double. I've had it for 6, almost 7 years now and have had no problems at all. I LOVE it and only wish I'd gotten it sooner. It was a little sore the first day or two after it was placed, but other than that no soreness (except when I do something stupid like accidentally punch myself in the chest, lol).

I was worried at first about how it would look, so I asked them to place it as far down into my breast tissue as possible to "hide" it. In retrospect, that was a mistake. Sometimes it is harder to access because there is more tissue the needle has to go through to get to the port and it's harder to feel exactly where the sucker is under all that tissue too. But I would never trade my port for a PICC again, ever. Like Emily said, as soon as this baby craps out, I'm gettin' another one right away. Good Luck!!

I have a port and I LOVE it! If you want to see some pictures of what it's like, visit my blog,

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://livingwellwithcf.blogspot.com/search?q=port

And here's a slideshow of me flushing it:

It may be a bit uncomfortable at first, but it's going to be such a relief to your routine in the long run. I had my old one for 10 years. Let me know if I can answer any questions.

All the best!
