Getting a Tattoo...

Risa,
I can't really tell if that tattoo is real or not (Liz would
probably know better than I would ^_^). Though I tend to
agree with her. I know if I were a tattoo artist and a guy
came in to my shop with an idea like that, I'd fall ill rather
suddenly---LOL!

Thanks for you kind words about my art, but I don't think I'm good
enough to sell it. I'm not very good with realism.
Cartoonish is more my forte. But if you'd like to see
more of what I do you can check out my deviantART page:
Wow Lisa - I just checked out your site, and think your work is great! Let me ask you something, if someone were to send you a pic of something, but wanted alterations to it, would you be able to do that? Or a different version of it?

Risa - sure, money can talk, but it would have to be a h*ck of a lot of money to get me to do something like that...

Thank you for sending me your link. You are beyond a professional. I cannot believe you are not in galleries on Madison ave. in NY seriously you need to find an agent and get your work out there. You are very orignical and have your own style and you are TALENTED.

Do you have these all framed in your house? I would love to be as talented as you.

I can draw people and love bright colors but never went to art school. I might go back to school and learn drawing. I love art.

Can you imagine if he had to have it removed lol

What a nut job but hey different strokes for different folks. lol

My husband was freaking but laughing so hard he could not believe anyone would do such a thing.

I am sure he is the talk of any party if he gets drunk.

He must be fun to be around though??? Strange people are so colorful

Liz, I'd be happy to oblige if I can. Just let me know
what you need! My e-mail is darkfangmistress@hotmail.com, if
you'd rather e-mail me, or you can just PM me. All my work is
digital, so alterations shouldn't be a problem!

Risa, thanks so much for your compliments! When I was
younger, I thought about doing something with my art. I may
eventually do commissions, once I broaden my range of abilities.
None of my work is framed, all of it is done digitally and
stored on memory keys. I do have a HUGE realistic pencil
drawing of myself that I entered in one of Creon's scholarship
applications that my mother wants to frame. If I can figure
out how to scan it I might put it up online.

About learning to draw, once you get basic anatomy down (if your
doing people) all you really need is practice. The only art
education I had came from one middle school and two high school art
classes. Mostly you just kind of teach yourself. It
helps to look at things, too, as a reference when you're drawing.
I use references all the time, and let me tell you, they
really help! Google is such a wonderful tool!

...and about that tattoo...no, I can not imagine having all of that
removed... I wonder what its going to look like when he gets
old. LOL!! Then again, maybe I don't!

just checked out your artwork WOW esp liked the guy with the guitar over his shoulder, the background on this is so interesting. You could deffinately sell your work.

I know a guy who has a tatt on his front lower appendage. I have seen it with my own eyes, as I didn,t believe him when he told me, so he whipped it out. The thing is , it is on his.......how do I put this.....bell-end, glans, you get my drift. It is only two words......'' SUCK ME '' appologies for any offense caused.
He had it done in L.A, a large amount of alcohol was used. He was originally from my town and moved there when he was 10, moved back now.

He should have gotten a hundred dollar bill put there so when his other half "blows money" he wouldnt be as upset. I also APOLOGIZE for any offense caused!

I had no idea that your work was digital. You definitely need to do something with your art.

About me, I love bright colors and can draw basic bodies but I need to learn to put the movement to look like it is better motion. I did a drawing myself jogging on the beach. It was my first painting and I looked at a girl jogging in motion from a magazine. I was happy that it was my first. I might start drawing again. When I was sick, I did a lot of drawing as it was great therapy for my anxiety since i did not take any medicine for it. When I thought I was getting nervous i just starting writing down words and made drawings around it. I made it all in different colors. I might take some pictures of them and put them on the art section. It is all about fighting CF and all.

Risa, I think that's great! Drawing is very therapeutic for
me, as well. The only problem is doing it while inhaling
albuterol! All my lines come out shaky...lol!

Craig, thank you for the compliment, though I can't take credit for
that particular image. That was just a screenshot of my
desktop because deviantART used to have a section for that.
Sorry for the confusion. I have no idea who the artist
was for that picture, I just found it on Google and slapped it up
on my computer ^_^;; But about that tattoo...no offense
taken, I think that's pretty funny! Wonder how his
girlfriend/wife feels about that...lol!!

Melissa...LMAO!!

1. About how long did yours take and how big was your
design?

Mine took over 11 hours, my design as you can see is big:p

2. Pain level --- what does it feel like, and how bad was it for
you?

Some parts tickled but other parts felt like he was using a grinder
on my back especially down my spine and shoulder blades

3. Blood sugar --- I've heard of a few people that have to come
back to finish the tat because of feeling physically ill. Why
would this happen, and what can be done about it (i.e. eat before
you go, drink a lot of water...etc.?)

My artist was really good with letting me get up and stretch my
legs get something to eat and drink etc...because of the size of my
design and the fact that I am post tx I chose to do mine in 2 hour
blocks as apposed to sitting 11 hours straight

4. Have you ever had an issue with coughing during a tattoo
session? Should you try and warn the artist before you have a
massive coughing fit so the ink doesn't end up everywhere but where
its supposed to be?

I did warn my artist that I cough a lot and he was really
understanding etc and if I felt the tickle I would just inform him
and he was stop let me cough and then start up again

5. How long does it take, and

Mine took just a bit over 11 hours, but I did it in 2 hour blocks
and took roughly 6 weeks to complete

6. If you don't mind telling, how much did it cost you?

$120 a hour was the going rate but was worth ever bit of it!
Fr3ak, thanks for your info! I've seen your tattoo once
before somewhere on this forum, and I think its amazing! 11
hours?! You must have a lot of patience (and a HIGH pain
tolerance)!

Well, everyone, I went in today and got myself inked. Yay!
The wings are high up on my shoulders, and they turned out
beautifully. I still have the bandage on, so as soon as I
take a photo I'll post it. I will say though...OMFG, it hurt
like all hell! I don't have as high a pain tolerance as I
thought I did... But I will say, the line art was the nasty
part. The coloring wasn't so bad, but I was relieved when it
was over! I didn't cry, though, thank god. I thought
for sure I was going to cry... The whole family was able to
get done (we were there from about 2:30 to 8---long time!)
Mine took about 2.5 hours, the longest out of the 4. I
took your advice to heart, and it helped quite a bit. I'm
always glad to come on this site. No matter what the topic
is, you guys are so knowledgeable! Thanks again!

That's awesome Lilith! You'll definitly have to post pics when its healed, or when you take the bandage off. Did you get the black areas in grey shading? - or did you stick with black? Now that you've gotten one tattoo, they can become addicting. I remember when I went for my first one - I was hooked! What are you using to keep it moisturized?

OK This will come as a complete surprise to most of you. It was to me. ON a spontaneous thought I got a tatto. Its on my right upper back/shoulder. Its a rose on a stem with a heart surrounding it. It wasnt painful & to top it off Jazmine got a tiger on her leg. For those of you who might think I am a horrible mother for letting my 8 year old get a tattoo.....Let me explain my reasoning. Hubby approved of it, paid for it & heck it was his idea to begin with. Now that I am done teasing you. Let me just say that they are AIRBRUSHED TATTOOS! I am too much of a wimp to get the real thing!

Liz, I did just as you suggested and had the arms done in grey
shading. Its still dark, but not enough to take away from the
webbing. I'm glad you suggested it! My
artist didn't put the little blue dots in the wings because it
might have looked a little cluttered, so instead she put a lot of
the purple shading in sections so it has that transparency-like
look to it. I'm quite happy with it! As far as a
moisturizer, they said to apply a thin layer of Bacitracin
(antibacterial) ointment on it for 3-4 days, and then switch
to Lubriderm unscented lotion for 2 weeks.

Melissa, you had me going for a bit with that one! LOL!
But once you see how the airbrushed version looks on you for
a while, you might just want to go for the real thing ^_^

Fr3ak's tattoo is gorgeous I do agree!

Lilith - can't wait to see pics. It sounds like a really great tattoo, and while the artwork is great, I can't wait to see the real thing! I know of some people who have reactions to Bacitracin (I also didn't think a lot of artists use that, as why would you put an antibacterial ointment on something that is supposed to scab over, and bacitracin prevents scabbing), so if your new ink feels like its burning, I would just switch over to the lubriderm right away. If not, then that's great!
