Well, i've been vegetarian for two weeks now, and I am now 100% off of two previous medications I used to HAVE to take. Avapro for my high blood pressure, and Prevacid for my stomache acid! I've been monitoring my blood pressure, and it's in the low 120's, with a bottom number in the 60's, with my pulse in the 60's. It used to be in the high 130's or even the 140's, with a high bottom number as well.
Also, since I went vegetarian, not a single "booty oil blowout", which happened often enough before to be a pain in the ass (pun intended <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ) no matter what I did medication wise. So far, my first immediate goals have been attained...Which were wondering if I drastically changed my diet would get me off these two drugs which I felt weren't 100% necessary. My stools have been 100% normal, less painful/bulky to pass, and they all sink.
Other than that, I still feel much better than I did before. After I eat, even if I gorge myself, I never feel bloated like I did before. I used to eat so much as my first meal of the day at work, that my breathing was slightly restricted, I guess due to my stomache pushing on my diaphram. Now I don't get that at all.
Of course we take drugs that deal directly with CF, and i'll stay on those because they benefit me, but as we age, and stay on a crappy typical meat diet, we start to develop secondary health issues like high blood pressure, highly acidic body/stomache, etc etc. I'm so glad I made this decision!!
BTW I tried some Morningstar Farms veggie hotdogs last night...Holy cow! They smelled, tasted, and looked exactly like regular hotdogs...I ate 3 of them on buns smothered in ketchup and horse radish mustard and even with that, no bloating/ultra stuffed feeling.
