Getting tested for CFRD- Advice please

Hi everyone

I went to the doctor last week and they had the results from my annual visit where they draw a whole bunch of blood. I guess one of my levels was to high or too low... Im not really sure what. But they told me they wanted to do a gulcose tollerance test, so I am supossed to go in for one of those in a few weeks.

I have been reading up on the CFRD stuff in case I do have it so I have some idea on what they are talking about. Some of the stuff seems like symptoms I expierence and some are not... and I am sorta confused so I figured I would ask here.

One major thing that makes me hope I dont have it is that I am pancrease sufficient and I dont need enzymes. In the thing it said that ushually if you dont need enzymes you dont have CFRD... anyone have it that is pancrease sufficient?

Some of the symptoms that I do think I have are... being tired all the time, trouble gaining weight, feeling weak and lighheaded when I do and dont eat, and sometimes its just really hard for me to eat. Most of the time I attribute the not feeling good to not eating enough even when I have eaten... but its weird. The not feeling good will kinda come in waves...like ill feel good for a week and then bad for a week. Im not really sure if these are just CF symptoms or CFRD things?

Any advice anyone has would be great... Im just trying to get a idea and handle on things before I go back to the doctor for my test...

Thanks
Melissa

i get an annual CFRD test.

are you sure they want you to get a CFRD test as a result of the blood test or because the CFF now requires every adult to have a CFRD test annually?

They didnt say anything about already having done the CFRD test. They told me they were going to have me do the glucose tolerance test and then see what the results were and if they dont know what is going on still they are going to send me to a blood sugar doctor.

I took the glucose tolerance test about 5-6 months ago. It's an orange liquid very very very very sweet...kinda like the McDonalds orange pop but 6 times sweeter. My test came back positive it read 15 anything over 11 and you are CFRD. I don't know where you are from but this is how they are read in Canada, the US maybe different....Good Luck.

P.S. The test takes a total of 2 HOURS!!!
