girl question on birth control.

You can start on any day that you want. They used to say Sunday all the time because for a lot of people its just easy to remember to start that day. Personally for me its easier to remember on Monday because of the way my work schedule is.

12 days does seem like a long time though. What is normal for you? Have your periods been irregular before? I started BC when I was 17 for extememly irregular periods and it took a couple of months for things to straighten out.

That happened to me. The pill made me bleed for three weeks with a one week break, then bleed another three. It was like my cycle was "backwards." Since I was getting married soon and needed to be able to RELY HEAVILY on birth control of any method (we had already planned not to be parents), I ended up getting an IUD instead. The hormones of the pill when combined with my other meds were just not a good match.

yes there are some you start on the first day of your cycle-(the first day of your period). Ask the GYN! If you have a doubt-call them.

Why were you put on the birth control in the first place? was it because you are sexually active or was it because of long periods? I used to have periods that last 8 days or so. But 12 is pretty long.

I'm glad it's stopped, and hopefully it will get more regular now. Still talk to your doc. Just to make sure.

I also forgot to say that it is extremely common to have this thing called breakthrough bleeding when you start birth control. When I started I bled everyday for about 9 months. At first it was heavy like a period, then it got to the point where I just needed a light pad everyday, but I still bled all the time. I kept calling the doc to tell them but they said it was breakthrough bleeding and it was ok as long as I didn't need to change a pad every hour. Eventually that form of BC became too much of a nusiance and I switched to the nuvaring which I love and have no weird bleeding on at all.
But-just wanted to tell you that all BC's can mess with your period and cause you to bleed irregularly until your body is used to them-its really common. (unfortunately)
