Glucose Tolerance Test

Hi all!
I have to get all of my annual blood work done this week, including the glucose tolerance test (GTT.) For some reason, I have a real mental block on how long this thing takes. I was wondering if anyone could tell me?

I did it so long ago but I think I was there for 6 hours. I think they took blood either every half hour to an hour or maybe even 2 hours. But I am pretty sure it was a full 6 hours for it to be done.

Six hours is a bit to long. I it will be two min, three max. I've had both different times. If you're lucky you'll get the two hour one and they will let you walk around. If not, you'll get the anal nurses that take three hours and don't let you move

I did mine I think like 7 years ago. They put me in this huge room with other people getting dialysis and other stuff. They hooked me up to an IV so they ould get blood every 30 minutes or so. Maybe they have changed it because I was there for a looooong time. Thankfully they had a TV for me!

My kids did it last year. I think it was two hours. After drinking the stuff really fast (after fasting) and the blood was drawn every half hour for two hours.

The worst part was the drink. It was WARM and nasty. The rest was fine.

I had one done in January. It took me two hours, they took some blood and then they gave me some drink that tastes like orange soda and then took my blood two hours later.

I just had one a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if its
different for pregnancy, but mine took 3 hours. (12 hours
fasting) They do the first blood draw, then you drink the
orange stuff, then the draw every hour for the next three hours.
Hope that helps!
