Have you ever tried autogenic drainage? It takes a lot of concentration, but it doesn't require any devices or machines or extra people. It says you need a couple sessions with an instructor (to make sure you're doing it right), but I think one could figure it out through trial and error. (if mucus is coming out, you're doing it right).
