I just became anemic this week. One of my friends told me about black strap molasses. She said it is an excellent source of iron. You can eat it by the teaspoon. I think I'm going to try it. She also said take any kind of iron supplement with vitamin C because that aides in absorption. Just thought I would share my friends thoughts. Get well Zoe!

I'm sorry to hear Zoe is struggling. I am "borderline anemic". That's what they call it anyway. There are times when my iron is low, and I just feel like I will drop at any moment. It doesn't surprise me at all to hear that Zoe is tired/sleepy. I also agree with Tara that vit c is helpful in the absorption of iron. I've always had to take it with my iron supplements. I don't absorb enough of it otherwise.

I hope Zoe gets to feeling better soon, and they get a handle on what she is culturing.

Hi Jada,

Boy, I've never heard of that bacteria either. I hope you find the right antibiotic to get rid of it.

How is Zoe's breathing? When I was pregnant with my daughter my iron went way down..my ob nurse actually called it on the phone. She could tell by the way I was breathing that they needed to check my iron. I guess shortness of breath is a symptom of low iron. Anyway, just wondering how Zoe's little lungs would be handling a drop like that. I do hope she feels better right away and that you can get her nutritional needs met. That surely will help fight this icky new bug.
