government shutdown

I wonder what this would mean for people if indeed the gov't experienced a shutdown as they have been talking about.

As far as FDA, medicare, ssi, ssdi?

anyone know? Maybe we shouldn't worry unless it happens.

I wouldn't worry about it.. I highly doubt they'd let us sick fend for ourselves.. Don't 4get there is still state & local governments as a back stop! In the case of SSI for example that's my States responsibility. Honestly this whole gov issue is ridiculous.. Cut & Save!

A few things would stop...the IRS would stop processing tax returns, the SS office would stop processing APPEALS only, and military pay checks may be delayed....I think those are the big hitters.

Actually, i just read that the FDA would be working at a significantly reduced capacity which could cause a backup in all drug approval applications.

(for those who are anticipating any new drug approvals)

However, the tobacco regulation dept of the FDA would not be hindered because this unit is funded by the tobacco industry.

I wonder why can't the cff pay the FDA to have their drugs researched in a more timely fashion since other companies can have control.
