Groin pain

Last year I had this same pain, but it was on the left side & went away on its own. I know have it on my right side. Its "appears" to be a muscular problem in the groin area. It doesnt hurt all the time, but if I move certain ways it feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife & it paralyzes me for a minute. This morning I was playing cards with my daughter in bed & tried to sit indian style (legs crossed) & couldnt do it with my right leg. It felt swollen near the groin, but when looking at it.....it doesnt seem swollen. I go the doctors next week & if its still acting up I will ask about it. Never had this particular pain before last year (and I have a lot of them LOL) so its odd. I know I havent done anything physical to injure it. I also looked up groin pain on the internet, but couldnt find the exact problem unless another problem is causing the pain making it appear to be the groin......I guess I would need tests for that LOL! I am so tired of something else coming up. Cant I just stick with the basic CF stuff!

Hey Melissa- My husband was having pain in the same area. The Doctors thought it was a hernia. After going to a few different Dr.s and having a few tests done(Ct scan and ultrasound and bloodwork) they ruled hernia out. They said it must just be a groin pull and gave him pain meds and told him to rest for a few days. He did feel better but the pain does come back now and then. I think hernias are more common in men than women but my sister in laws Mom had one last year and needed surgery to correct it. Also, do you think it could be your appendix? Hope you feel better!!!

I dont think its appendix & maybe groin area isnt the right term because all info I come up with leans towards the lower abdomen except hernias which it could be. The area is the muscle on the inside thigh right near my crotch (sorry couldnt think of another word).

If you are talking in the ovary area than it is much higher than mine. Mine is in the muscle area on the inside thigh that allows your leg to move. It connects the leg to the crotch area....right before getting to the privates. I didnt think this was going to be a biology or anatomy class when I started it. I dont see mine being from excessive coughing this time since my coughing has been minimal. Laswt year yes, this time no......................

Ever give consideration that the pain might be gastro-intestinal related??

I've had a few times where I've had discomfort in the groin area for a long period, untill later in the day, when I had a B.M.

Another possibility, and possible concern, would be "stones" in the liver? I've had passed gallstones often times, and had similar sharp pains in the chest area. Could it be, liver stones passing (both left and right side) could be a result--can't rule out that idea.

Hope after the doctor thumps you a few times on the knee, and has you bend over and cough (or is that for guys, only??), he'll still be able to find the problem.

At least with this spool, you can take the list of things to ask with you for him to reply.

Obviously I cant rule anything out. I found out along time ago with my back that pain in one area doesnt mean that the problem is in that area. The first time I went to the chiropractor he was working on a different area than what "seemed" to be bothering me & I thought he was a quack....turn out he was right. When I realized he knew what he was doing, I told him my thoughts & he laughed & demonostrated how a problem in what spot can cause symptoms in various "inobvious" spots.

My one son has had several groin injuries/pain over the years (an avid racer). Found out it was actually coming from his hip.

I also thought it sounded like the hip. When you have a hip that dislocates itself now and then, the pain is on the inside of the leg and your leg feel kinda week.

Let us know what the docs say
