Debbie,

Like most CF'ers I have had major sinus issues. Meds didn't work for me so I had a few turbinoplasties done when I was young(under 15)....I guess they just kept cutting more away each time. I am good now due to having a major sinus revision(actually I had it done twice). Anyway...just lettting you know that if meds don't work there are surgical options as a last resort

Ty everyone for your input/advice. I wanted to get everyone's opinion before I said what the dr said...he said he isnt worried about it. Should I be? Cheyenne cultures the same things every month..she is on an antibiotic for 20 days each month and still cultures H. Influenza and at the moment the other things escape me. She hasnt cultured any of the biggies.

H Flu is one of the most common bacteria in people with chronic sinus problems.

Bacteria from the sinuses can definitely saturate the lungs.

If would try to get the sinus issues under control and I bet the lungs and the problems with H. Flu will get better <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Deb, just wanted to say that I hope Cheyenne is feeling better by now. I'm sorry she has it so rough, she must really be miserable half the month! I'm thinking of you and hope things can get handled and taken care of for you. Take care.

Have you taken your daughter to an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) doc or is it her basic pulmo that is saying not to worry about it? I would possibly get a second opinion if you are thinking something needs to be done about it.

I know for me I had seen an ENT when I was still within the Pediatric department and I was told there were no serious obstructions with my sinuses - nothing to worry about or nothing that would require surgery. Then a few years ago I went to an adult ENT and had another CT Scan - now apparently I have a serious problem that needs to be taken care of through surgery.

I would say if her Pulmo is saying not to worry about it then take her to an ENT to get a more specialized opinion and maybe discuss options for taking care of the problem. If she is already seeing an ENT, make an appointment with a different ENT and get another opinion. It never hurts to have a second opinion in matters like this. Either they will say No I think the other doc was wrong something should be done about it or I think the doc was right and it is not a major concern right now. Either way it will be good to have reassurance and another opinion.

Take Care,
Lindsey
