Heart Palpitations

Thanks everyone for your replies. I just wasn't sure if this was something that happens more often with people that have cf. I should hopefully have the results of my holter monitor next week.

If it comes back normal I may go ahead and request to see a cardiologist just to make sure everything is ok because it seems I heard before that people with cf has more heart problems. Maybe I am wrong though.

Thanks again.

I've had it on occasion and even had the holter monitor test. They basically told me not to worry about it unless it became frequent.

I did notice though that when on cipro and drinking lots of caffeine that I would get heart palpitations. Are you on any different meds that could be causing side effects?

I had the same thing, wore the heart monitor & have been diagnosed with PAC (Premature Arterial Contractions--I think is what it's called). Basically, an early heart beat.

Once in a great while my heart just goes thump, thump, thump and I can put my hand over my heart & feel it beating hard. They said this is probably a few PACs in a row. I've been told that it's benign and to try not to worry about it, but that is hard as it is disconcerting when it happens.

It would be worth a trip to a cardio to see what they say...

Some things that can make mine worse are albuterol, caffeine, stress and low blood sugar.

I switched to Xopenex instead of albuterol & that helped.

Keep us posted on what you find out.

I used to get that when I had anxiety issues. It's amazing how the mind can affect the body. I often couldn't sleep at night..... but what it took was some therapy (CF can be rough to deal with sometimes and I just needed to talk through some things) and it went away along with the anxiety.
