Hi Ky, I have SVT as well, have had it since my early 20's (I am 34), I am medically controlled as far as that goes. It can be a scary sensation, basically feels like butterflies flying loose in my chest. To stop it, I sometimes would drink ice cold water, bear down (vasal vagal) and if that didn't do it, off to the ER I would go so that they would give me IV drugs to stop the arrythmias. When you go to your docs, ask for a 24 hour holter monitor, it is basically a portable EKG that monitors your rhythm for 24 hours. You carry a diary, write down all of your activities so that the cardio can correlate your activities with any arrythmias if they are present. It also tells the doc what kind of arrythmias you are suffering, it isn't uncommon for people to have what are called PVC's or premature ventricular contractions, they feel like an occassional skip, alot of docs consider 7 or less a minute are non pathological. But, if you are having a run of them, they can be of concern...your doc will be the best judgment of that. Other arrythmias might include atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter...they can feel like butterflies in your chest too. That is why it is so important to get this checked out....could be anything and any cause. (Ol' ICU nurse in me talking)
Much luck and thinking of you...Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
