hemoptysis vs. birth control

I never wrote in before, but I feel I have to in respond to this as I understand the difficulty of intermitten hemoptysis. I have had hemoptysis come and go - sometimes when I would be sick, sometimes when I would be feeling great. The solution that I have found (after dealing with this for 10 years) is Birth control PLUS vit K 10-20mg/day. I have found the VitK for to be integral, if I miss my vit K for two days I inevitably start coughing up blood. Talk to your doctor about it and give it a try for a six months. For birth control i use seasonique, 4 periods a year, and I don't find there to be any bothersome side effects.

Actually : Birth control caused me to bleed. So for years I have avoided it. I have never been pregnant .

Birth control also interferes with Blood Sugars. My blood sugars are all over the place when I was on Birth Control long ago as a young woman. But it wasn't worth all the side affects so I stopped using it.

I just stopped haveing sex, (just kidding), We use other forms of birth control instead.

My dr's office has gotten back to me.
I have discussed everyone's suggestion with the cf team and this is what they have said so far.
They gave me other birth control medications that are suppose to have less side affects such as:
LoEstrin 1/20 or Alesse
They said if they dont work they can keep upping the dose to get it at a correct level to suppress my hemoptysis.

I have asked about L-Lysine and they are suppose to get back to me about that.

As far as the breast milk idea it is thought to maybe take too long or may not work all together and that I would have hemoptysis while trying to get it to work.

Thanks CF1234 for posting your reply and welcome to the forums!!
I am going to mention the seasonique to them too. It seems that seasonique would be a good idea because of the missed periods . Do you know the dose of hormones that are in it?
they are also going to check my vit K levels on wed. The last time they checked my levels were normal so we'll see. Even if they are normal I am going to ask for the rx anyways.
I was hoping to get off of birth control all together because of the side affects and my age (the cancer risk after 35 yrs old). But we'll see what they come up with.

Thanks to you all for your help!!!
If you have anymore ideas please post here. I need all the ideas I can get!
