hide fingernail clubbing?

I don't have CF (my 2 daughters do) but I do have clubbed finger and toe nails. Both my daughters do too. I have always been embarassed by my hands. My sister and brothers made fun of me when I was little and said I had frog thumbs. They always said that my thumbs look like lily pads. When I was younger I would always try to hide them. Now, as an adult, I HAVE to keep my nails done... it is almost like a compulsive disorder. If I don't have them done I am constantly trying to hide my hands. When I can afford it, I get acrylic nails. But most of the time I use the glue on nails. They are less secure and will fall off much easier, but they are much less expensive. As long as I have my nails done, they aren't quite as noticable... at least to me.

Edited to add: The one exception is when one of my girls is in the hospital. I will not wear the fake nails then because I am afraid of the bacteria when I am touching their iv's and stuff. And I am a compulsive hand washer too so I do try to be extra careful.
