Okay on a serious note I have to say that I think drug companies run the world and as there would be no financial profit in curing CF and other disease, they will not allow this to happen. Either through lobbying the Gov't, tweaking results so the FDA won't approve, whatever, our disease is a money making cash cow for them and they may be interested in coming up with more helpful and very expensive treatments to make us feel better and extend our life (that way they make more money off of us) but they're not looking for a way to cure it. I think they'd prefer that never happens.

I agree, that's why i'll be shocked if this ever truely comes to be, and all of the major genetic diseases are wiped out. Theres cash in the treatment of diseases, not the cure. As the seeing eye dog trainer once said to ray charles "Here take this dog and follow it around".

I have alwasy been under the impression that even if they cured CF my lungs are seriously scarred/damaged and that would not be fixed so I would still have alot of trouble breathing? Am I wrong?

I would take my chances with cancer if my hair wouldn't have to fall out...I have pretty hair...ha ha ha. I know it's not funny to have cancer I was laughing at my vanity (in case anyone took offense).

Yeah your genetic abnormality would be corrected, as in your sodium channel, malabsorption (im assuming the pancrease ducts would over time come unclogged with mucous?) and everything else related to CF except any digital clubbing (doubt that corrects itself). But your damaged lungs would still be damaged lungs. It would just stop any further damage.

I dont know about the CF vs Cancer decision. I have known a lot more people that endured cancer treatments only to succumb to it. I have known much more than those who passed from CF. I guess I wouldnt want to risk one unknown for another unknown...

Well statistically, that would have to be true because more people get cancer than CF annually. But with CF you are guaranteed to die with the disease, with cancer, there is a chance - and sometimes a high chance depending on specific cancer - that you can be cured. Of course with most everything health wise, the chances for recovery are dramatically increased with proper lifestyle and supplement useage.


I now have a friend who just today found out he is in stage 2 of some very rare, very serious skin cancer. He now will have to take chemo. He thinks it's all a joke and hasn't done crap for himself except stop smoking to help himself out. The worst part, he has a beautiful little girl and a wife. I suppose now, with him looking at me (i look healthy), he would trade me his cancer for my CF. Granted if I would have been him and they told me I had cancer in the first place, I would have been going nutty with an anti cancer diet and wheat grass juice and basically a giant anti cancer lifestyle/diet. He has been overweight for a long time now, and basically has no self worth.

***DUH*** to Melissa.....Of course I would know more people that passed away from Cancer than CF. Like U said statistically Cancer is ahead of the numbers on victims.....I understand what U mean about the outcome, but most of those I lost were after the horrible side affects etc of chemo. I guess its like debating a tx decision. U never know until U are there in that position!

Well yeah. But it's like saying "Would you rather have this real crappy disease for the rest of a very limited life span and it's guaranteed to kill you", or "Be guaranteed to have your old real crappy extremely limiting lifespan disease taken and you won't die from what once was a guaranteed crappy life/death, but have to take your chances with cancer, which many forms can and have been cured, and a good deal of that depends on your behavior after diagnoses".


It's a "Your gonna lose" vs a "You could lose, but you could also win" situation...Id choose the latter.
