Hospital Indemnity Policies?

Jane

I know this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it in my search. If someone can find it- let me know I'll try again.

What good policies do you all have? We just got one from COMBINED. Wait 1 year. $90 per day. Physicians Mutual doesn't do them in Massachusetts anymore, so we're looking for others. ANyone?

Thanks
jane.

Triple A has one, Aflac has one, United American has one.

Colonial life also has one. I know there are many of them out there.

Just poke around on google with indemnity insurance and i'm sure you will find tons of em.

I just actually spoke to an Aflac rep for RI and basically I can get $400/day coverage for the first 5 days in the hospital and $100/day for every day after that.

The premium would only be $8.64 a week...but there's a six month waiting period for pre-existing conditions.

I don't know how other companies' plans compare, but for us CF'ers, i'd say it'd be worth it.

The different plans all seem to even out in the end, regardless how they pay out. I always compared them on a two week basis (what used to be standard hospitalization clean outs). For two weeks, the big three policies (Aflac, United American, Physicians Mutual) each pay out slightly more than 3k each, because in two weeks you would make a little under $11,000 on all three of those. If you go in often, grab as many indemnity polices as you can, because you can make out like a bandit and have money to enjoy what life you have left.

I have Afflac and get about $2000.00 for each 2 week hospital stay. I can't tell you what an awesome thing it has been to have. When I was pregnant and in ICU it payed 1000.00 a day. Wow who knew ICU coudl be so grand. My daughter was in ICU for 2 weeks when she was born. Although I would have much rather her not have to do that it was great because she was really healhty just small and needed to gain some weight and such. It really paid out nice.
