Hospitals....

Okay so on Friday I had to go to the hospital for a fever, 103.6 after having it top out at 102.2 the night before. I get there and of course I am not feeling very 'nice'. I give them a typed out sheet of my meds and tell them about the episodic arthitritis, CF and the asthma. I then tell them that my family doctor said no antibiotics until they have done blood work, blah, blah, blah, you know the rest. I finally get in a room, think to my self- 'Thank god I am not dying' and continue to wait. I know the whole time how to cure myself, I just need and IV so I can get some fluids in me. Thats it, that is all I need. I finally get the doctor and she asks me all of the questions that I so plainly answered and everyone wrote down not to long ago. The thing that finally sent me over was, "What meds are you taking"---- HELLO, there is a beautifully typed printout in the damn chart. LOOK at the chart before you examine a patient. So I politely say, I believe there is a printout in my chart--- which was countered with and Oh, maybe I should look before I ask, huh? That would probably be a good idea. She then tells me she doesn't know whats wrong with me and I just kindly state the last time they just pumped me full of IV fluids and I went on my merry way. Of course they had to do an influenza test. Which is no fun for those of you who have never had one and deteremined that it wasn't the flu--- no suprise there!!! So all they did was put fluids in me and sent me home with a come back if you are not any better. After almost 4 hours of sitting around waiting they ended up doing exactly what I told them.... sometimes I wonder if it truly is better to go to the E.R. Idiots!!!!

I so understand the ER problems. Before I started working at our Local Hospital, I always encountered problems with the Head Doctor of the ER. One time I had severe pneumonia which I knew required IV etc, but that I needed to be stabilized & then sent to my doctor in the city. He was going to send me home since "I only have the flu". HELLO....Pneumonia + CF=Trouble. My Godmother (RIP) spoke up because I was so pissed & said nothing is happening until they contact my regular doctor (CF) & get their input. Well lord & behold guess what they say....admit her, put her on IV's get her stablized & ship her down!
