Hot Air Balloon Ride

Hi-

Last night my husband surprised by telling me he scheduled a hot air balloon ride for us while we're in Dubai. While I'm sure this would be amazing-and the best way to see the area-I'm freakin scared! No, seriously, I really appreciate it, and I think it cost a boat load-but I can still be scared. But that's another issue...

What I want to know is has anyone here done that? I don't know how high you go-I would think bewtween 3-5,000 feet. I guess if you've done handgliders, or anything like that-comment cause I just want to makes sure that I can do that with the elevation.

Jut wondering....

My husband never did that, but he did look into it.
If you're wondering if you would need O2 at that altitude, there's a test your doc can give you to determine that. Then if you will need O2, he can script for the day (if he's a good egg).

I've had one. It was on the last cf camp i could go to. Everyone that went for their last time could go as a surprise and we had such a great time! It's lovely. You can see everything, and it's so quiet! I think you will love it. I had o2 at night, sats around 92% in that time and didn't have o2 with me. Everything went well, no headaches or anything.

I've always wanted to do that, at the same time I would be scared out of my mind I'm sure, because I'm scared of heights! I think you should go for it though. If there's no impending danger...then go for it, I'd say.

I've never needed O2- my sats are usually 97-99. I think I'm gonna go for it. I have no clue where I'd get O2 over there in Dubai, and my insurance isn't good there so I'd probably have to pay out of pocket for it.

It's the whole height thing-the whole 'free fall' thing......but I'm sure it will be beautiful. And if they ddi it at a CF camp-it can't be THAT bad for cfers.

I've done them atleast 3 times. Extremely fun. Makes you feel like you are just floating around like an angel. I don't think it gets up high enough to think about needing oxygen (but no idea for those who are bad off). Not like they go up to passenger jet altitudes.

I am very scared of being very high up...lol....but yes I have gone on a hot air balloon ride. I did it for my oldest daughter's 7 birthday. She had always wanted to go on a ride, so I called to see about it when she was almost 4. They said she had to be a minimum of 7 years old. So she kept telling everyone on her 7th birthday she was going on a balloon ride. I knew my husband would never, ever ride with her so I geared myself up for it...lol...it wasnt bad at all...the only part I really didnt like was the landing...lol..I think they could have done that a little easier, it was like a crash landing. They had this little ceremony afterwards...they had ginger ale for the kids and champange (sp) for the adults. They mailed certificates out to us about a week later....it was a very memorable time for both of us.....now she was to go sky diving...lol..
You dont go up high enough to worry about O2. Go and have fun.

I did it, when I was in Australia about 11 years ago. Normally you don´t go up too high, we scared some kangaroos by the noise of the gas...But I found it a little uncomfortable, because you have to stand all the time...
Have fun!

I scare kangaroos all the time because of my gas.

Sorry-I couldn't resist that one.
