hot weather/worse cough?

Hi everyone. I got to school down in LA but am origionally from northern California where it dosent get nearly as hot. I was wondering if any of you have worse lung days when you are in the warm weather? I am asking because i dont know if it is just the LA air or the combination wtih the heat too...
I am not down there for the summer (thank goodness) but am going back in aug. I went down for a vist last week and felt terrible =(

I dont have air conditioning in my apt so I am looking for ways to cool it down...especially when I vest ( I am bascially sweating through my shirt each time i vest ick). I cant get one of those window air conditioners because there are bars on my windows and it wont fit =( Any suggestions on other types of little AC units or ways to cool off the room?

Any suggestions would be great =)
Thanks

Portable fans, Ceiling fans

This is more for dry weather, but sometimes if it is hot and dry I use a fan and a humidifier at night. It gives me extra moisture for my lungs and I can breathe easier. If you get several fans for each room you may be able too strategically place them to keep air flowing around the room.

I hear ya! I sweat through my shirt EVERY treatment with the vest and we have central air (live in Las Vegas, though)! I was going to mention I had read somewhere that those in-the-window AC units are BAD for CF or any other respiratory disease cause of the coolant (water) build-up being a breeding ground for pseudo. and other icky bugs. So, please give some consideration to that. However, I DO agree that breathing gets very labored when its hot out, so maybe it would be worth it to get some relief. I've had a terrible congested cough with the 110 degree temps here (and I'm sure the pollution doesn't help either). So, I believe it does make a difference. How much, I'm not sure.

Good luck getting relief.

My worst times have seemed to be the summer, last few years, I do at least one IV during or immediately after the summer. More than one of the past years, I've had to do two rounds of IVs in just the summer alone. So in short, yeah summers are not good for me either.

hot weather can definitely make thins worse. Heat, just like
furnace heat, can dry out the membranes making things thicker and
tougher. Summer always makes my asthma worse and makes Josh worse
also. An AC would be nice......I think that sell stuff you can add
to the draining pan to kill bacteria. And there are some now that
you just put an exhaust hose to the window.
Good luck!!!!!

girl you HAVE to get an air conditioner. it's just too hot here in LA.

you're probably feeling crappier when the air gets hotter cuz air pollution is more prevanlent when the temperature goes up.

but you've gotta get an AC.

now this is something we agree on. Although I still find it
funny how Californians think this is humid. ; )
