Not to be over-dramatic, but if you think you have pneumonia, you need to get to the doctor ASAP. If you are feeling bad enough to think you have pneumonia, go to the doctor like tomorrow. Pneumonia can be life threatening to anyone, but especially a cfer.

My daughter usually will have more of a cough and complains of headaches, we have usually caught it in time so it was not too bad. Alot of times though she will tell me that she feels fine but if her cough has increased than off to the doctor we go. If you think that you have pneumonia than you really do need to go to the doctor ASAP!!!

ashley,

You may experience shortness of breath, have chest discomfort, change in sputum color and production, some have fevers some don’t (depending on the etiology), and just all around listlessness. These are just some of the symptoms. I personally noticed I get this "cold" feeling every time I inhale and I notice myself breathing more shallow to avoid that feeling.

Hope you feel better

It is funny you mentioned a "cold" feeling when you inhale when you are feeling really bad. I get a feeling like that but I always described as a feeling like when you have been swimming in a pool all day and you swallowed chlorine water. It is a weird feeling like that when I breathe in. I wonder if your "cold" feeling is the same thing.

Pneumonia is my main problem with CF...I get it on an average of 2-4 times a year!!! Although, Ive never experienced the "cold breathe thing" I always know when I have pneumonia when I lose my appetite.I hate it!!! I also sleep a lot more, my coughing and shortness of breathe increases and I get night sweats..I actually just was released from the hospital a week ago for having it AGAIN! Thankfully, I have great docs ....Stay well everyone!
