How long Albuterol stays in System?

Does anyone know how long albuterol stays in your system?

See, I'm going for a prenatal check up today and albuterol affects the baby's heartrate. Not in a dangerous way. But it can/does speed it up. So the doctor said for next time to not use it before my appointment if I can, so they can get a more accurate reading. Last time I had done it about 30 mins prior. So my appointment is in 4 hours approx. Does anyone know how long it stays?

Christian.....I would think no much longer than around 4 hours. If we shouldnt take it again before 4 hours then I would think thats when the levels are low enough. This is assumption on my part, but I would think its a guide to work with.

Here's the way to find out - ask your pharmacist for prescribing information.

Look up the 1/2 life - multiply that by 2.5. That's how long the med (or any med for that matter) is in your system.

I looked it up in Hale's book (the one I keep preaching about!), but Amy already beat me to the info.

Just wanted to add that my albuterol never seemed to affect Marlee's heartrate - at least it was never "high" so you might go without this time and with next and see if there is any difference (maybe that's what you are doing already?!) But, when i had to take terbutaline for ptl, the baby was wiggling like crazy! I don't think her hb was affected - well again, it was still within the normal range, but man, it was like she was going nutso in there (and so I stopped taking it).
