How long do enzymes last?

This may sound a bit crazy to some of you but if anyone happens to know I'd greatly appreciate it.

Firstly, we have Pancrease MT16. A while back we had a prescription filled and the stupid, (yes I know, harsh) pharmacy put the enzymes into a large prescription bottle. They usually just slapped the label on the white bottle but NO, not this time. I got an arguement and gave up. Well, I decided to put two of these bottles in my tornado trunk in our basement, and switched out the two bottles I'd placed there before. Since they are not in the original pharmacutical bottle there is no expiration date.

We have since moved and I didn't even think about it when our packers packed up the stuff in my trunk. That was last year. I just came across these two bottles with the presciption having been filled in 2004. Does anyone have any idea if they might still be good or should I just throw them away?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Liza<br>

I think I'd throw away the enzymes just to be on the safe side.
I think they last roughly about 2 years.

Working for pharmacists, the general rule of thumb for medications outside of their origional bottles is one year.

Because it's hard to know if the pharmacy took those meds from a brand new bottle (that may be good for a couple of years), or from an old bottle that only had a year left, I would throw them. Enzymes lose their potency over time, so it's a good idea to not use the same bottle over a year from dispension anyway.

Thanks for your opinions. I was thinking that they'd probably be ready to expire anyway, even if they did come from a new bottle. Which I am sure of because they had to special order the enzymes for us. (because it was a high dollar med)
I think I will just chuck them out, better safe than sorry.
