How long does your HS take?

I'm on 7% and find it takes sometimes 30 minutes to get toward the end of my treatment. They have me taking a total of 6 ccs (4 ccs 10% with 2 ccs 3%). Anyone else take this long? I often stop it early cause I just don't have time to sit and do this. Urgh.

My doctor said to do the treatment for 15 minutes then throw away the rest. To much might irritate the lungs.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif" border="0">

Really? I usually finish the whole thing, all 5cc's. Takes me anywhere from 20-30 mins. Sometimes I do cut it about 5 mins. short, though, if my coughing is driving me nuts.

Well, either way, since its not a medication or antibiotic, it wouldn't hurt to cut some treatments short, I assume. I am getting kinda burnt out doing it for 1/2 hour or more per day, and usually, by the middle of it, I stop coughing anyway.

What kind of nebulizer do you use? Our regular nebulizer is a devilbiss and albuterol and atrovent take about 10-15 minutes, pulmozyme takes 5 and tobi takes about 20-25. When we use our pari proneb tobi take a LOT longer -- 35-40 minutes, regular nebs take 20-25 and the pulmozyme takes 10-15. Does it take long just for the HS or other drugs, too?

Well, when i was doing all 4ml's of 7 percent it took 1hour to 1hour and a half because of all the coughing. I kept cutting off the machine. To say the least I didn't feel to great after it was done. Now I do 3 or 4 percent and don't go longer than 30 minutes, sometimes less. I just throw out the rest.

John--what type of nebulizer and neb cup are you using? That sounds like an awfully long time to neb HS. I neb 4 ml of 7% in a Pari LC plus on an Inspiration 626 compressor. It only take me about 13 minutes.

Hi,

huh I nebulise in my morning therapy about 15-20 ml Hypertonic Saline 7% and about 10 ml 0.9% saline solution... I use new Pari eFlow Rapid (european version) and 5 ml takes about 9-11 minutes of continuous nebulisation ... in Pari LC Plus with Pari Master compressor it takes about 15 minutes of continuous nebulisation , in Rapidflaem 4 with Nebuflaem F 2000 compressor it takes about 15 minutes of continuous nebulisation too...So my morning inhalation takes about 70-90 minutes plus flutter and expectoration (30-45 min)...then Pulmozyme in the afternoon and about 20ml HS and saline solution at the evening... I nebulise all in one neb, of course I clean it after each treatment...

I do 7% and it takes me about 15 mins to use it all. Before I got my new neb machine it took alot longer like maybe 30min or so, it was annoying but with the new machine I get it done in a breeze. Toby takes just as long too 15 min and pulmo only 7 mins.
