how long to wait?

If you read my blog the other day, you know that I am not feeling well. I have had an increased cough for a lil more than a week. I started on 500 mgs of Levaquin twice a day last wednesday, so 5 days ago. I am still coughing a lot espacially at night. And then Saturday I started with the whole cold, sore throat, deal. I am sure now that was part viral so the anx wont be combatting that and yes that part is getting better. My head isnt so stuffy, but I am coughing a lot. I called out of my sucky job yesterday (they were mad but w/e, i dont care) and I am not subbing today, had to refuse two jobs...

My question is how long should I wait to call the doc and get some more meds. I mean its been five days and its not better. And obv I have been in this situation before but I just dont know if I should be annoying and call the doc again...

I would have to say call the doctors. If it's been longer than 5 days you KNOW it's not just "Lack of sleep". Especially if you are now taking work off. I usually give it three days, if it hasn't broken on the fourth, I call the doctors, they at least need to know and have the opportunity to help.

Normally antibiotics take about 3 days to 'kick in' a bit for me, if I continue to get worse after that I would definately go in. I look at it this way (as does my doc) why use orals and just 'get it under control' if you are going to end up sick again in a couple months because you didnt wipe it out completely. Or what happens to em if I really should be on iv's not orals is I end up doing orals, still not better and immediately have to go on IV's, now I jsut prolonged my misery for 2 extra weeks from trying to 'avoid' IV's.
