I take my own wipes & wipe down <i>everything;</i> bed rails, phone, tv remote, the tray that's on wheels, etc.

When I wash my hands in the bathroom, I use a papertowel to turn faucets off and also for the door handle.

If nurses come in with gloves already on, I ask them to change them out in front of me--I don't know if they've had the same gloves on for the last 3-4 patients. I even had to ask one nurse to throw away a glove that had fallen to the floor & she was going to use anyway.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

I don't allow them to clean my tray on wheels with their rags, I do that myself with my wipes.

I refuse to use community canisters of albuterol, Advair, etc.

Don't use the hospital issued mouth wash.

I keep a canister of wipes on my tray so that I can use them often to wipe my hands off, etc.

I'm sure I'm not the "dream patient" to have, but I have to be my own advocate.
