Human Growth Hormone? HELP PLS

Hi , I am a 27 yr old male with CF.My doctors have always told me that I have a light case. In the past few years though, I have noticed more hospital visits and I can tell it is progressing.I also have CF diabetes. However, here is my real subject.I have always been a fan of weight lifting. My brother who is one year younger than me and does not have CF is a REALLY muscular guy, and I struggle so much when working out on getting bigger. Even with protien shakes and supplements.Last time I went for my check up at the CF center I saw a flyer with an advertisment about research being done on CF patients with Human Growth Hormone. It said it could help patients with gaining and maintaning weight. I know that some weight lifters actually use this illegally to substitute for steriods. My questions are.. Does anyone know about this research? I heard they stopped it yrs ago and then I saw it again. Also would it pose a danger to people with diabetes? What are the risk factors and how high are they?I struggle so much to keep in shape and it really frustrates me that I cant even begin to build muscles like my younger brother has. Heck even his bones are much larger than mine and I know its because of my cf. My health comes first but I would really like to get bigger than I am and I heard that this Hormone could help me in other areas.I do pretty good with my CF , I dont want to risk my health yet I do want to improve it and it would really boost my self confidence, I feel as I work out as hard if not harder than anyone I see and I seem to get the least amount of results, it really gets to me.I would like to someday find a wife but I lack the confidence to even approach women. I know that if I could just get bigger I would have SO much more confidence.I am a good looking guy its just that i feel way to D@MN small and it has realy gotten to me. I want to feel good about myself and feel that others are attracted to me.Could this help me ? Someone that knows please let me know.

My understanding is that the studies were all on children & how it helped them. Could be wrong but that's what I thought it was for...

Dear Anonymous,Have you found exactly what HGH does? I have also heard that athletes use this instead of steroids. From what I have been told HGH increases testasarone levels in your body similar to what steroids do. Do you remeber when Mark Mcguire was chasing the home run record a few years ago and a reporter seen the bottles of Androstien in his locker. Androstien was an HGH supplement. Just be careful make you find out what it does to your body before you take it.Have you ever tried Creatine? It has worked for me.Dave 29 w/cf

Just one more thing to add from my last post. I live in Ontario and asked around at supplements stores about HGH and was told that because it acts like a steroid that it was illegal in Canada. Dave 29 w.cf

Some adults have been included in the growth hormone study. I was one of them and I know a few others. It can help you gain weight, but there are also a lot of possible side effects.

I have undergone HGH therapy through an Endocrinologist who has done extensive CF research. The therapy was a complete success for me. I am a weightlifter as well, and have experienced sustained weight and muscular development, and am larger than many other non-CF amateur weightlifters my height. More importantly, I have experienced not only a maintaining of lung function, but an increase. In my opinion, HGH treatment represents a huge breakthrough in research for all CF patients. I started the treatment as a weak and stunted teenager, and joined an adult study a year and a half ago. HGH treatment for me was nothing short of a life-saver. However, everyone's body is different, and the HGH reacted with my body very well. So far, from what I have heard, there are no reported problems or side-effects and all the research has been very positive. Check with your CF Specialist for more info on adult studies for HGH.
