I am a Graduate Nurse

Tonight was my Graduation. It was so amazing and wonderful and unlike anything I have ever experienced before.......

I can't actually believe it is real and that I really am a graduated nurse.. Still have to take boards next month to be Registered.

My pastors of my church where there, they are the ones who are my 'adopted" family and the ones that believed in me and told me to go for it when I shared with them years ago that I wanted to go to school. They have always been my family and to have them there was so amazing.

My parents where there as well.. More proud then ever... I was so honored to have the ppl I love most there. So happy I could give this to my parents as well. To see the look in my dads eyes was worth it all.

They did speak about me tonight at graduation which I knew they were going to . BUT I had a deal with them, that somehow went mucky... The deal was I was honored that they would want to talk about me but that I didn't want them to talk about my health.. I really have done a lot of things at school and none of it was because I had CF so I didn't want to be seen in that light.. Well they ended up reading the same script that they read at my awards dinner. It was fine at my awards dinner but not for the whole school and newspapers.. It was Chock full of my health.. at one point it sounded like they were reading my medical records rather then a graduation thing.. BUt you know what?? who cares I GRADUATED AND I AM SO THRILLED, I just got home, after graduation I went out for drinks with my class mates and this SUnday I am going out for a special dinner with my family.

I HAD RYS STAR ON THAT ALLIE SENT ME, I HAD A NECKLACE FROM JOHN AND JENNY ON THAT THEY GOT ME FROM CHRISTMAS, A CF BRACELETT AND A BRACELETT FROM MY Goddaughter. I wore a butterfly that I got from my other family members for Christmas.. Those were the most important awards I could wear.. Though I did get to wear a bunch of honor cords, robes, etc..

Nothing beats wearing things that came to me in love..

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ME YIPPIE.. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, FINALLY I DID IT....

Jennifer Graduate Nurse..

Ahhhh Honey I am so proud of you. It now seems that it was SO, SO long ago you were so worried about not making it thru this last stretch. I understand that you didnt want your health brought up at the ceremony, but I personally think they couldnt help it. Your CF & other health issues is one of the reasons that you were determined to finish despite how much those illnesses tried to stop you. ANYWAY you are a graduate! GO JENN, GO JENN, GO JENN!

What an amazing feeling to know that you finished and you finished well. Congratulations!!! Soak it all in and never forget what it took to get to where you are! You have worked hard and it has all been worth it.

My advice to you...Don't get to close to the patients...For some nurses, it's ineveitable...However becareful about becoming so close to your patients...Especially CF'ers.

I've witnessed many of my nurses being crushed after one of my friends' death (he had cf)....

Just a fair warning to you...be careful and congrats on becoming a full fledged RN.

Thank you guys so much.. I am so blessed to have so many supporters in my life... I am so tired tonight just got home from work and going out with some friends but I wanted to post a big thank you.

I am going to post more tomorrow in my blog, and try to post a picture that was in the newspaper... They did NOT print my story in the newspaper at my request because they made me sound like I was a handicap.. and I felt that it would make me be on unequal playing fields in my profession.

So somehow the picture of me is still in the newspaper and all it says is my name and that I was grinning from ear to ear.. which is really cool. No sad story which is awesome

I am so thankful that you guys are always here for me through good times and bad.. to listen to me vent, whine complain and whatever.. but to also celebrate the joys that come with life...

On a side note, my stupid arms are numb again and I am going to have to go to the city for further testing next week....

Thanks again,

Love and Appreciation,

Jennifer

Way to go kiddo!!! Congrats on a hard fight won! Just one more hurdle--boards--but you'll do fine. It's always so much fun when a new nurse comes to our floor--they're so earnest and trying to get it right. They always do, and you wil too! What specialty do you want to work in? Get some sleep tonite.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

YAAY!!!! And yay you wore the Jew star!!!!</end quote></div>

Emily you crack me up so much. Yes I wore it, I wore it with so much sentiment, I didn't wear it because it was Jewish, I wore it because it was something to honor Ry with, actually, when I looked up it's meaning on the internet, ( I know it can have a few meanings) the star with all the different sides in it, meant God's protection from the North, South, East, and West. It is kind of cool, David had a major roll in both the Jewish and Christian faith.

It was an honor to wear something in honor of Ry, and I couldn't thank Allie enough for her love and support. I ended up pinning the star on me because otherwise you would not have been able to see it, I had to much other robes and stuff on. As I was pinning it on, I got real teary eyed thinking of Allie, Ry, and Ahava.

This has been the most fun weekend ever, and it isn't over yet. and Em, where are you?? I miss chatting with you.

THanks again to EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR LOVE.
