I am soooo frustrated with family!

As all of you know from my other threads...I have a time with compliance with my in laws. My mother in law keeps Lexi so that we don't have to put her in daycare, or I would just have told them all to stay away. They come around her sick, my FIL smokes and smells like and ashtray, my SIL still wears perfume around Lexi....oh I could go on an on. This is sooo frustrating I want to cry. I really think they take CF way too lightly.

The latest is this...talked to SIL last weekend over the perfume issue and she promised she would not wear it anymore. Lexi was sick all last week from her wearing it to our house. We saw SIL again on Sat and Sunday and again she smelled. Not strong this time, but enough that I could stand 2-3 feet away and smell her. I took all of your advice and went to Walmart and bought her a cute basket full of fragrance free products. Lexi and I took it too her. She did not say a whole lot, just that she knew she would not like them and they would not work for her....what. I let it go and just asked that when being around Lexi if she would wear these for her safety. Lexi saw SIL on Monday, but I did not. She stated that SIL did use fragrance free products and did not smell at all. Thank you Jesus...right...wrong. SIL was at MIL's when I went to get the kids and I could smell perfume again...really light, but still there. I asked Lexi if SIL used fragrance fee products and she said...No, cause I smelled perfume on her. So, this is not my imagination. Last night Lexi became hoarse, she was very congested and coughed ALOT, had a fever of 101. I know it is an accumulation of being around SIL on sat, sun, and yesterday. Like I say she is not strong, but Lexi loves her and is all over her all the time.

I have not said anything b/c we only have 5 more weeks until school is out for my husband. Lexi starts school in the fall and will not be around SIL on a daily basis. I really would put my foot down and tell her not to come around, but I can't keep her from going to MIL's house, which is where she sees Lexi anyway.

I am totally going to tell her after these 5 weeks past to get the hell out of my life!

Thanks for letting me vent!
Do any of you have this problem...Lord I do hope I am the only one. I wouldn't wish this on anyone!!!

I guess I'd be more concerned with the issue of 3rd hand smoke and the FIL. The smoke particles stay on hair, clothing, furniture, etc. and can be breathed in and cause issues.

Yes this does concern me greatly, but FIL is not around kids that often. He still works so he is usually up and gone by the time my kids get to in-laws house. Lexi does not have much contact at all with him. She may see him 1 time per week. He does not smoke in the house either, so she is not exposed that way either. Thank God!!!

The 3rd-hand smoke is still an issue when it comes to surfaces he touches in the home; smoke particles cling to him and then get deposited on furniture, carpets, bedding, anyone he touches after smoking, etc. Even though he doesn't see Lexi often I wonder as well if this is the larger of the problems going on. She is exposed to that continually, whether or not your SIL is there...

At any rate... I hope that all of you can hang in there till your dh is done for the summer.
