Yesterday I had a very low blood suger. I got very sick and needed allot of suger. After that low suger I just don't feel like the same old me. I feel cold sweatie short of breath and just plan sick. I am so sleepy that I have issues just walking. I have somewhat of a cough that just does not sound right when I lay down. I was put on Cipro two days ago for MRSA in my lungs. But I had to go off it becuase it gave me some bad affects. I have jont pain and chest pain. also my food comes thru me when I have lung infections. so I wanted to ask does this sound like a bad lung infection to any of you? <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif" border="0">

Do you have CFRD? Its very important when you sugar is low to first get it up, but then keep it up by eating some complex carbs and protein (a turkey sandwhich on wheat bread is perfect!). Even just moderately low sugar can make you tired, sweaty and just plain feeling yucky. If your food is just going right through you that would explain the low sugar.

As far as the other stuff goes, it does sound like an infection. I would call your doc as soon as possible. When they took you off the cipro did they start you on something else? If not they should have, you can't just quit an antibiotic after 2 days, you'll get sick!

I thought cipro was for PA, not MRSA. That would explain why it wouldnt work...but yes I agree with Jessie, they should have put you on something else right after that. If I cant tolerate somethiing, my doctor usually goes for something else. There are a lot of other options out there for MRSA. Sometimes also you may have to cut the dose in half and build up your tolerance for it. I used to do that with Zyvox.

Do you have a glucose monitor?
If so have you been checking your sugars?

If not I would maybe look into getting one.

I say that for this reason. Like Jess said you need to make sure you get your sugars up firstly then keep them up - BUT if they went up and are now elevated that can also make you feel like crap.

I know for me personally (I DO have CFRD - diagnosed about 8-9 years ago) when my blood sugar drops it can sometimes take me a day to recover from it depending on how low it gets. I get headaches, weakness, sweaty and nauseated mostly from the headaches.

I spend the day combating highs and lows from where I over compensate what I eat to make up for the low and send my sugars high.

When your sugars are high you can sweat alot, feel nauseated, get headaches, have difficulty breathing and your cough (well at least mine did before my transplant) can sound thicker or more productive. I notice even now post transplant that IF I have high blood sugar that my PFTs are lower than if my sugar is normal.

I would talk to the doc about it if you think it may be something more serious but it is very possible that it is just taking your body sometime to recover and get back to an even keal with the blood sugar issue.

I hope you start feeling better soon.
