That sounds great! I am glad you were pleasantly surprised. We did have a very positive experience when Jordan was in the hospital for his spine surgery. The hosp where the surgery took place was pretty good. I certainly had less complaints there than at other hospitals.

The best, though, was a small community hosp. that we were transferred to for his recovery and physical therapy. It was more like a hotel than a hosp. We had very large rooms with very comfortable beds for my hubby and I. Our room had a queen sized bed for us. Jordan was still in a hosp. bed of course, because he had tubes coming out of him everywhere. We had big walk in showers and full kitchen access. Everyone there treated us so well that we were a little sad to leave.

Hospital Food...never changes, does it!!

I guess the things I can be thankfull about my hospital is:

1. they didn't over charge me...though that visit was PRETTY expensive.

2. they didn't take more blood than they needed...though they stuck me twice for four tubes of blood!

3. they at least "heard of CF"...as if THAT really makes me feel better!

4. most important, they didn't give me the wrong prescriptions...though I found out the other day my regular doc DID give me the wrong prescriptions for enzymes!!! He gave me stuff to REDUCE it, not INCREASE it!! the wife was more T.O.'d than me, though I was the one who suddenly got the runs for two days...that was dangerous (malnurishement)!

Glad your first night stay was a nice one, rotandroll...1,200 miles from home, hope the rest of your time there is equally pleasant and you're home before you know it!!

It is nice to hear that your hospital experience was so good rotandroll. By all means tell us which hospital this is.

It has been 8 years since I was last admitted for my cf. Your list has raised the bar high for other hospitals...I hope when I have to go in again that I too can say many good things especially concerning cleanliness.

Anyone else what to toot their horn about how wonderful their hospital is? We could all benefit from the information.

Fred, I'm glad you can laugh off the mistake on enzymes... it sort of made me laugh, because it's so absurd! It must be difficult being in Asia where you're likely the only case of CF many of your doctors will ever see. I thought for a while I would love to move to Hawaii but learned that they don't have great CF care there because it's not a disease that affects natives. Anyway... It's so important to be proactive in our care and I hope you're hanging in there.

Everyone else... I almost don't want to share my secret! Haha. It's California Pacific Medical Center (see other post about it). They are incredible, I've never had a more proactive team (CF, renal, endocrine, ENT, EVERYONE) team. I couldn't feel better treated or safer.

Take care guys.
